The former horoman flower fields

The previous horoman flower fields

These flower fields along the southern ridge to the summit used to be colonies of Hidakaso (Callianthemum miyabeanum; a species endemic to Mt. Apoi), and were popular with climbers. However, the plant is hardly seen today due to frequent illegal digging, dwarf stone pine growth and other influences. However, the site provides sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean and Cape Erimo, making it a good place to pass through as part of the descent.
