Samani's Neptune whelks (Neptunea polycostata) are top-class in size, texture, and flavor. Kashibe Suisan, a local seafood direct-sales shop, has tanks filled with incredibly fresh seafood, including Neptune whelks, todai whelks (Buccinum opisthoplectum), barfin flounder, and horsehair crabs. Particularly notable are the exceptionally large Neptune whelks, which are hard to find elsewhere. You can enjoy these delicacies at the nearby Japanese restaurant Ominaeshi.
