Physical characteristics:
This perennial grows to approximately 20 cm in height. The leaves are broadly ovate, thick, and shallowly divided into five pinnate lobes. The flowers are large for the plant’s height.

sea cliffs, grasslands, and areas in and above the fifth stage
Other information:
This flower marks the end of the flowering season on Mt. Apoi.
Japanese name origin:
The “ko-hama-giku” literally means “small beach chrysanthemum.” It is named for its small size and its prevalence along the seashore.
