Physical characteristics:
This perennial grows to approximately 10 cm in height. The leaves are stiff, gladiate (sword-shaped), and clustered at the base of the plant. The flowers bloom near the upper part of the plant, with purple-tinged anthers.

rocky formations in and above the Umanose area
Other information:
synonym: chabozekisho, a quasi-endemic variant species
Japanese name origin:
The “zekisho” (“sekisho”) comes from the resemblance of its leaves to those of sekisho (Acorus gramineus), a plant from the Araceae (arum) family.
