Physical characteristics:
This perennial grows to approximately 50 cm in height. The leaves are ternate (consisting of three leaflets), and each leaflet is further divided. The leaflets are finely divided into linear segments.

June to mid-July

mid-slope forests to upper areas
Other information:
a variety of hakusanbofu (Peucedanum multivittatum); a quasi-endemic variety
Japanese name origin:
The “hakusanbofu” comes from the fact that this plant is commonly found on Mount Hakusan and that members of the Apiaceae family have medicinal properties and a fragrance similar to those of the roots and rhizomes of siler, an herb used in traditional Chinese medicine.
