Physical characteristics:
This perennial grows to approximately 30 cm in height. The radical leaves are single and divided three or four times into groups of three leaflets, with long leaf stalks. The plant lacks petals; instead, clusters of fine, thread-like white stamens form the flower.
Blooming period:
mid-May to early June
Habitat:
along streams in the foothills and along the Horoman River

Japanese name origin:
The “karamatsu” (Japanese larch) comes from the clusters of fine, thread-like white stamens that resemble the leaves of the Japanese larch.
